The Business Manager manages departmental financial systems and operations, including accounts receivable and payable, cash handling, and fiscal reporting. The role provides training on culinary technology, supports the Executive Director and department initiatives, assists with the summer housing program, and ensures excellent service to students, parents, and community members.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.
Data Systems and Financial Management (55%)
Manage all aspects of Culinary Services’ computer and software systems, including meal contract management, timekeeping, point-of-sale systems, and credit card processing. Responsibilities encompass database oversight, user assignments, troubleshooting, and system configuration.
Collaborate with IT Services to ensure effective technology and hardware support.
Oversee all data related to CSB meal plans, including downloading data, updating individual accounts, prorating charges, managing monthly billing, and closing accounts as needed.
Accurately prepare daily, monthly, and year-end revenue and transaction reports, as well as processing monthly meal exchange data with St. John’s University.
Reconcile and manage cash funds for Culinary Services.
Handle accounts payable and receivable, along with cash and credit transactions for Gorecki Dining Center, McGlynn’s, Catering and Events and Clemens Perk.
Compile, analyze and interpret financial data for department leadership.
Assists the Executive Director of Culinary Services with budget review and analysis.
Culinary Services Department and Office Support (45%)
Ensures a high level of customer service and profe
Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain professional communication with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
Oversee time clock and scheduling system software, coordinating the timecard approval process and submitting timecards to payroll bi-monthly.
Train and support student cashiers and staff across all operational areas on systems, procedures, and customer service expectations.
Manages Business Office and Event/Housing Supervisor and student cashier team
Track and manage license renewals that are necessary for the operations of the Culinary Services Department.
Maintain the Culinary Services websites to ensure accurate and clear information regarding department offerings and services.
Assist with various office functions, including answering phones, managing walk-ins, ordering supplies, handling P-Card transactions, and overseeing uniforms and facilitate clear interdepartmental communication.
Handle financial processes including generating customer invoices, managing accounts receivable, and submitting monthly reports to the Business Office, which includes tracking past-due invoices, recording deposits/payments, and managing sales tax documentation.
Assist in summer guest/event housing payment processing and refunds for online reservations to ensure smooth transactions.
Respond to inquiries regarding housing, billing, and event services in a timely, professional manner.
Act as a resource for Culinary Services employees, offering support when their direct supervisor is unavailable.
Supervise and oversee the work of permanent department staff and student employees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
Associate degree in Accounting or Business; or equivalent education and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
Experience with accounting system software and point of sale programs preferred.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Accuracy and precision in recording financial transactions and preparing reports.
Demonstrates good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to learn quickly with minimal direction.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Confidentiality, sound judgement, and discretion are essential in the performance of regular duties.
Ability and willingness to work occasional weekend shifts as needed.

Travel requirements:
Occasional travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
