St. Norbert College is accepting applications for a nine-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor of Psychology, beginning in August 2026. While the area of specialization is flexible, candidates who are either ABD or have a Ph.D. in developmental, cognitive, social, sport, or rehabilitation psychology are especially encouraged to apply. Other course assignments will depend on the department's needs and the candidate's expertise. The position is initially offered as a one-year contract, contingent on positive annual performance reviews and institutional needs, with the possibility of renewal. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching within a liberal arts environment. The role offers a competitive salary, full benefits, and potential opportunities for summer and J-term teaching. Please note that this is an on-site role requiring regular attendance on campus.
Duties:
The successful candidate will teach a survey course and an advanced course in their area of expertise, sharing responsibilities for teaching Introduction to Psychological Science, Basic Statistics, Research Methods, and other courses as needed. An ideal candidate should be able to offer a course that intersects their expertise with the College’s Health & Human Performance program and also develop an active program of research involving undergraduates. This full-time faculty position involves a 3-3 course load, with courses meeting for 180 minutes each week.
A Ph.D. or ABD with a Master’s degree is required at the time of appointment.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching within a liberal arts context and who have experience serving as the instructor of record for college-level psychology courses.
How To Apply:
Submit a letter of application (addressed to Dr. Bola Delano-Oriaran, Dean of Health and Human Development), teaching philosophy statement, unofficial transcripts, and curriculum vitae.
St. Norbert College seeks to attract candidates who are actively engaged in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and who desire to pursue this in the context of a liberal arts setting. Please respond to the College’s Catholic, Liberal Arts, and Norbertine Identity statements as well as Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Mission alignment will be considered a significant factor in the evaluation process.
Application review begins March 23, 2026, and continues until the position is filled.
