Mount Saint Mary's University, a Catholic university primarily for women, seeks a dynamic and engaging assistant director to join us in sharing the mission and charism of our unstoppable founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet with the Mount community. The CSJ Institute advances and promotes their commitment to serve all persons without distinction, to respond to the needs of the times, and to prepare fearless visionaries for a just future. The CSJ Institute serves as the mission education and integration unit of the university. The assistant director supports and expands the reach of the CSJ Institute across the university community, with a particular focus on university programming, outreach to students and alumnae, and marketing and communication.
Under the supervision of the senior director, the assistant director will:
- provide workshops, trainings, and other educational and formational experiences rooted in the history, mission, charism and spiritual practices of the CSJs to various constituencies
- offer service and community building experiences with students and sisters, on our campuses and at their residences
- facilitate annual student pilgrimage to France
- collaborate with Campus Ministry, Student Leadership, and Student Engagement in providing leadership formation and reflection experiences to our student body.
- manage all department programs
- create and manage all communications, including flyers, e-newsletters and social media
- mentor student employees as archivists and digital media creators, and promote student research opportunities
Qualifications/Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Deep, demonstrable understanding of the CSJ charism.
- Knowledge of formation, facilitation, and retreat processes.
- Knowledge of Catholic tradition, spirituality and education.
Abilities and Skills:
- Teaching, facilitation and/or training
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and audiences (from students to Trustees).
- Strong relationship building, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize multiple software programs, including Office 365; Canva; social media; video and photography
- Strong written and oral
- Project management; highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to work without constant
- Eligibility for international travel required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required (master’s preferred).
Experience:
- 1-2 years’ experience sharing Catholic theology, spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching, such as classroom teaching, parish or campus ministry experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience coordinating volunteers, outreach and
- Event planning, workshop and retreat facilitation experience
- Track record of public speaking, teaching and/or training
- Experience in Catholic Higher Education preferred.
Work Location: Doheny campus, downtown Los Angeles (2-3 days/month Chalon campus; 1-2 days per week remote)
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $70,304 annually
