St. Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2026. Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in Psychology with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. Area of expertise is open, but applicants with backgrounds in experimental psychology, social psychology, assessment and evaluation, or practitioner-oriented disciplines are strongly preferred. The department has a strong empirical focus that permeates the major. ABD candidates will be considered but must have Ph.D. completed at time of employment.

The Department of Psychology offers the B.A. in Psychology, undergraduate and graduate certificates in Community-based Assessment and Evaluation, a graduate certificate in Dual Credit Teaching, and a new M.S. in Program Evaluation that began enrolling students in Fall 2024. Candidates interested in supporting (e.g., program director) our unique, community-engaged M.S. program that is affiliated with Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment (CREA) are especially desired. The department, one of the largest undergraduate majors in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, is committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting student research.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the undergraduate program, supervise undergraduate research, maintain an active research program in his/her area of expertise, and support our certificate and graduate programs. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory and/or advanced statistics, research methods, and courses in area of specialization (e.g., social psychology, tests and measurement, program evaluation, clinical, school, counseling psychology or other practitioner-oriented disciplines) taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates able to contribute to diverse courses in the University and Psychology core and to develop/teach new electives are especially desired. Additional duties include holding office hours, advising students, and serving on committees. This full-time, tenure track position is contracted on a 9-month appointment.
