Job Summary:

To help The College of St. Scholastica remain faithful to its Benedictine heritage and Christian vision of the world by providing visionary, dynamic leadership for the Campus Ministry Team and its programs.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership and direction for Campus Ministry Team.
  • Carry out the usual duties of a Director in areas of budget, staff evaluations, and evaluation of programs.
  • Serve as spokesperson/communication link with Dean of Students and Directors of other Student Affairs Departments.
  • Organize on-campus worship (Roman Catholic) and arrange for appropriate services for persons of other faith traditions.
  • Monitor religious activities and organizations on campus according to established guidelines and policies.
  • Generate awareness of and enthusiasm for social issues and provide opportunities for College members' involvement in volunteer service, including but not limited to organizing and supervising service-learning trips and alternative break experiences.
  • Advise student groups; i.e., peer ministers, eucharistic ministers.
  • Overall responsibility for coordinating religious activities; i.e., religious retreats, penance services.
  • Participate in College activities; i.e., all school convocation, parents weekend, etc.
  • Serve on internal and external committees as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (theology, divinity, or similar) with five years experience in ministry position required.
  • Master’s degree (theology, divinity, or similar) preferred and experience working with student population.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills required.
  • Ability to prepare and administer a department budget.
  • Able to identify with and value the College's Catholic and Benedictine identity.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the College's Catholic liturgies.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn and apply the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Must be available for weekend and evening activities.
  • Must deeply understand and appreciate Catholic theology and teaching.
  • Must be able to support and nurture a Catholic presence in the Campus Ministry Department.
  • Ability to speak with groups of various sizes effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, and the Benedictine community, as well as off-campus Duluth community.
  • Ability to work in ecumenical and interfaith settings.
