The Security team at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible position of Security Officer.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Security, the Security Officer is responsible for patrolling assigned areas of campus, promoting a safe and secure environment for all students, employees, guests, and members of the monastic community. The officer assists with traffic and parking control, responds to incidents and requests for assistance, and supports the general health, safety, and wellbeing of the campus community through proactive presence and service.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.
Be responsible for regular assigned patrol duties either on foot, bike or motor vehicle.
Be responsible for the enforcement of vehicular traffic and parking regulations.
Patrol buildings and grounds as defined and assigned for the purpose of security, safety and order.
Be responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and potential fire hazards.
Provide emergency assistance and protection where/when needed and authorized.
Provide assistance to guests, students, employees, members of the college and monastic community when requested and authorized to do so by current regulations and policies of the department.
Respond to all fire calls, medical emergencies, traffic caused incidents, breaches of security, criminal complaints and calls for assistance to provide whatever aid and assistance is requested or needed as authorized by policies of the department.
Investigate and report all traffic caused accidents to proper authorities as directed by departmental policies.
Provide traffic and crowd control duties at campus events as assigned.
Attend all required department meetings and training sessions.
Testify as required at judicial proceedings called by proper authorities including, but not limited to, State, County and local court authorities, and college authorized investigations or hearings.
Be responsible for the accuracy and preparation of required departmental reports and records.
Be responsible for supervision of student officers.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license.
Ability to operate a campus vehicle, including successful completion of a defensive driving program (driver’s license check required).
Ability to remain calm and composed while effectively handling a wide range of situations.
Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed, including regular weekend assignments in accordance with departmental scheduling.
Certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), or eligibility to obtain certification.
Proficiency with computers and ability to adapt to new technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including walking, running, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching, squatting, etc. as required.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Occasionally required to lift or move items up to 40 pounds.
