The Spirit Shop at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible position of Marketing and Website Coordinator.

The Marketing and Website Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing marketing initiatives and managing the stores’ website to increase brand awareness, drive traffic, and boost sales. This role collaborates closely with store leadership, store staff, and other campus stakeholders such as the Marketing & Communications department, to create and implement effective marketing campaigns and maintain a seamless online customer experience.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

 

Responsibilities

Website Management and Content Creation (30%)

  • Oversee the daily operations of the stores’ e-commerce platform, including product listings, pricing, and promotions.

  • Collaborate with the Buyer and Merchandiser to ensure accurate, up-to-date product information and high-quality images.

  • Manage website content updates (e.g., banners, landing pages, featured products) to reflect seasonal campaigns and key events.

  • Troubleshoot website issues and coordinate with IT or external vendors to resolve technical problems promptly.

Marketing Campaign Development and Execution (25%)

  • Plan and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, social media, print, etc.) to drive awareness, engagement, and sales.

  • Develop and maintain a marketing calendar that aligns with institutional events, promotions, and product launches.

  • Collaborate with the Retail Director, Buyer, and Merchandiser to ensure cohesive branding and messaging across all materials.

  • Track and analyze campaign performance data to optimize future marketing efforts.

Social Media and Community Engagement (15%)

  • Create engaging social media content (visuals, captions, stories) to showcase new merchandise, in-store events, and promotions.

  • Monitor social media platforms for customer feedback and questions, responding promptly and professionally.

  • Coordinate with campus organizations and departments on cross-promotional opportunities and events to increase brand visibility.

Brand Management and Creative Direction (10%)

  • Maintain and uphold brand standards, ensuring all marketing materials and digital content align with the CSB and SJU missions and aesthetic.

  • Develop design concepts for promotional materials, store signage, and marketing collateral in coordination with internal or external designers.

  • Assist with photo shoots, video production, or other creative assets to support marketing campaigns.

Data Analysis and Reporting (10%)

  • Analyze website traffic, conversion rates, email engagement, and social media metrics to identify trends and insights.

  • Create regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and present findings to the Retail Director and relevant stakeholders.

  • Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements to online user experience, marketing strategies, and product offerings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration (5%)

  • Work with the Buyer and Merchandiser to plan product promotions and ensure inventory levels are aligned with marketing initiatives.

  • Coordinate with store managers to promote in-store events and gather customer feedback on marketing efforts.

  • Partner with campus departments (e.g., Alumni Relations, Athletics, Admissions) to develop cohesive marketing opportunities.

Additional Duties (5%)

  • Assist with special projects, campus events, and seasonal promotions as needed.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor practices, and emerging merchandising techniques.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success and reputation of CSB and SJU.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with eCommerce and/or website management.

  • Proven experience with marketing social media strategies, principles, and best practices.

  • Familiarity with visual design principles and best practices.

  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding customer needs and creating a positive shopping experience.

  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, Point-of-Sale systems, and other retail-specific technologies.

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create and edit professional materials such as reports, memos, articles, and presentations.

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond to customer needs in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, both in person and through various communication channels.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in training and self-directed learning.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs, including some evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires extensive use of a computer and other office equipment in an office setting, with the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

  • Occasionally required to lift or move items up to 40 pounds.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
