St. Norbert College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor position in Teacher Education beginning August 2025. We seek candidates with strong backgrounds in Literacy/Reading Education. The position is a full-time visiting faculty appointment beginning in August 2025. This full-time visiting faculty appointment will involve teaching three courses per semester, including Early and Intermediate Literacy and Literacy Methods courses, as well as supervising student teachers. The position is for a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal depending on performance evaluations and/or institutional needs. A Master's degree with relevant experience is required; an ABD or doctorate is preferred. This position is benefit-eligible.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in Literacy or Reading Education

    • At least three years of K-12 teaching experience

  • Preferred:

    • Familiarity with the Science of Reading and current literacy practices.

    • Experience advising, mentoring, and/or supervising preservice teachers throughout their program of study, both in and out of clinical settings. 

    • Ability to engage students with current trends in the field, such as the Science of Reading, children’s literature, home literacy practices, multilingual learners, technology use in literacy development, and reading and writing assessment. 

    • License as a Literacy/Reading Specialist or Elementary Educator. 

    • Experience teaching English Language Arts, reading, or literacy classes in K-12, especially in elementary and middle school settings, as well as in higher education. 

    • Doctorate in Literacy/Reading Education or an education-related field with an emphasis on literacy/reading education.
