OVERVIEW: Assist in the development, implementation, and management of service programs and campus ministry events.  Support the programs which help students live charity, love of God and neighbor, specifically by enabling service opportunities.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintain the local service program.  Support the director in identifying opportunities for local service and maintaining relationships with local service sites. Serve as the contact point regarding logistics for service partners off and on-campus.  Assist the director in supervising graduate assistants and student leaders and ensure these parties have the resources necessary for their mission.  Coordinate the weekly Sunday Mass collection taken for local charities in the Providence area.  (35%)
  2. Aid the Director of Service in planning for, promoting, and the registration process for service immersion trips both foreign and domestic.  If necessary, accompany students, along with other campus ministry staff, on domestic and international service immersion trips.  Assist in coordinating the faith-and-service pre-orientation programs, Faithworks.  (30%)
  3. In conjunction with other campus ministry staff participate in the planning, execution, and advertising for campus ministry events, such as Open Table, Wednesday Night Mass, All Saints Week programming, and Post Mass Bash.  (15%)
  4. Assist the Director of Service in promoting service on campus.  In conjunction with the Director, serve as a liaison for campus groups looking to carry out one time or on-going service projects (such as Student Congress, academic departments, and student clubs).  Assist the Director in promoting a culture of works of mercy and social justice on campus through educational and advertising programs, social media, and other means.  (10%)
  5. Help acquire and maintain records for volunteers, especially related to background checks, driver authorization and waivers.  Collaborate with other departments on campus in this respect as necessary.  (5%)
  6. Collaborate on programs to encourage the just and sustainable use of resources within Campus Ministry and on campus.  (5%)

 

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutional required.
  • One to three years’ experience in campus ministry or student programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including excel, word, outlook, and Microsoft forms.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Helper Helper Volunteer Management tracking system.
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop or Canva.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport for international travel.
