OVERVIEW: Serve as lead systems administrator for endpoint systems, enterprise lifecycle and configuration management platforms, asset management, software provisioning, patch management, endpoint security, and associated utilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of endpoint management solutions to manage operating system and software deployment, keep an inventory of computer hardware, and ensure the security of endpoints and enterprise data.  Create workflow task sequences for hardware and software deployment.   Identify opportunities for automation and systems integration.  Work with faculty to ensure software configurations meet their curricular and instructional needs.  Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.  Maintain disaster recovery processes and plans.  (50%)
  2. Configure, maintain, and monitor endpoint security software and configurations, including malware detection, security baselines, and full disk encryption following best practices and industry standards.  Document processes for remediation and risk mitigation.  (20%)
  3. Provide mentorship to the Technology Services & Application Support Specialists, providing technical guidance and assistance.  Provide expert-level support for escalated complex endpoint issues, participate actively in incident resolution, and conduct root cause analysis.   Assist the service desk and technology support personnel with issues of a critical nature.  Provide training and support materials to the technology support personnel for endpoint deployment and malware remediation.  Create and maintain automation workflows for remediation of common issues by leveraging on-premises and cloud-based solutions.   (15%)
  4. Maintain inventory of institutionally licensed software.  Utilize asset management tools to manage the inventory.  Package and deploy software applications to streamline the deployment process and maintain a standardized environment.  Work with vendor support reps to ensure software works as intended.  Work with vendor sales reps to ensure college licenses and software versions are up to date.   Provide budget information for software packages.  (10%)
  5. Provide technical system configuration and support for classroom, instructional, and other academic technologies used by faculty in course delivery and instruction as well as research, including computer hardware, managed streaming devices, and other equipment as needed.  (5%)

 

MARGINAL DUTIES:

Education and Experience

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a desktop/endpoint management position, preferably in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with endpoint management systems, (Jamf, Intune, etc.) 
  • Experience supporting Windows and MacOS hardware and operating systems
  • Experience working in an Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, and policy management. 
  • Experience with scripting languages, mobile device management, and privilege/right management.
  • Related Microsoft, Jamf, and Apple certifications required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical users.
