Position Summary

To manage clinical staffing needs and contribute to ensuring that the Detroit Mercy Dental Clinic operates a technical infrastructure in compliance with state regulations, dental accreditation requirements as well as university policies and procedures. Recommend, evaluate and interpret clinical staff policies and procedures. Develop, collaborate on, plan and implement improvements/updates supporting student clinical success, effective faculty interface, and quality patient care. Present a professional, approachable “face” to staff, students, patients and other constituents consistent with the Detroit Mercy Mission.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate daily clinical operations in each department to ensure optimal work flow, patient experience, and identify areas where adjustments and/or improvements are needed related to these areas. Work with appropriate individuals to ensure implementation. 
  2. Hire, supervise, support and develop, as well as evaluate staff performance, including annual performance reviews of direct reports. 
  3. Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and clinical staff regarding patient concerns/suggestions, provide appropriate follow through ensuring quality customer care. 
  4. Manage non-grant related implant inventory, i.e. ordering, tracking, case review, and distribution. 
  5. Participate in management meetings keeping management informed of department progress, problems and concerns. Implement solutions as decisions are made.
  6. Evaluate current clinical policies, procedures, and methods, and make recommendations to initiate changes when necessary. 
  7. In collaboration with managers and others, as needed, develop and implement cost reduction projects and/or changes. 
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or 18 months to four years of work experience in a related field.
  • Experience: Two years to five years (Equivalent combination of Education and Employment)

Preferred Qualifications  

Experience with axiUm, PeopleAdmin,   Paylocity, Microsoft Office

  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with faculty, students, staff and patients.
  • Prior supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

 

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

 

Salary/Pay Information  

Commensurate with experience

 

Anticipated Schedule 

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
