JOB OVERVIEW:
The Director of Campus Ministry is responsible for leading and managing the Campus Ministry Department. This role involves fostering the faith formation, spiritual growth, and liturgical life of the Assumption community, while supporting the Catholic and Assumptionist mission of the University.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides leadership and oversight for Campus Ministry programs and staff.
- Hires, supervises, and evaluates all staff.
- Assumes ultimate responsibility for all programs initiated by Campus Ministry, including liturgy, prayer, retreats, missions, and other programming.
- Exercises fiduciary responsibility for Campus Ministry in preparing and administering the department budget and approving all expenditures.
- Collaborates with the Assumptionists, the sponsoring religious community of the University.
- Assumes responsibility for all baptisms and marriages scheduled in the University Chapel of the Holy Spirit, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is obtained in a timely manner.
- Shares responsibility for carrying out Campus Ministry activities with other members of the Campus Ministry Team.
- Provides pastoral counseling services to students and others.
- Calls and chairs regular meetings of the Campus Ministry Team.
- Serves on various University committees as assigned.
- Collaborates with the Department of Student Affairs where appropriate.
- Assumes responsibility for programming not covered by other members of the staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a practicing Catholic, willing to contribute actively to the mission and the Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
- Master’s Degree in Theology, Spirituality, Pastoral Counseling, or a related field.
- 5 years of prior experience in Campus Ministry required.
- Strong computer skills required (e.g., Word, Publisher, Excel).
SCOPE:
- Interacts daily with students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and various members of the lay and Assumptionist community.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
