Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

The Chemistry Department at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) one-year position benefit-eligible position of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August of 2025.

The successful candidate will have a substantial background in any of organic, inorganic, biochemistry and teach courses and laboratories in chemical reactivity as part of our innovative curriculum. A Ph.D. is required by August 2025.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

• Ph.D. in organic, inorganic or biochemistry
• Laboratory experience in chemical purification, synthesis and characterization, or biochemical techniques
• Interest in teaching from an active learning framework
• Interest in learning about, and teaching in, other areas of chemistry outside of disciplinary specific background
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective teacher
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:

• Teaching as instructor of record
• Ability to work as an effective team member
• Experience mentoring and facilitating student groups
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
