The University of Notre Dame seeks a distinguished academic and experienced leader to be the next McGrath-Cavadini Director of the Institute for Church Life (MICL). The successful candidate will have a record of scholarly excellence in one or more of the areas related to the Institute’s mission, a demonstrated commitment to and love for the Catholic faith, a deep knowledge of Catholic intellectual tradition and a keen awareness of the pastoral challenges confronting the Church. The next director should have experience in strategic and administrative roles that have required the management of personnel, operations and finances. The ability to communicate the Institute’s mission and priorities with passion, persuasiveness and clarity to potential donors and programmatic partners is essential. Rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A doctorate or other terminal degree in one or more areas related to the Institute's mission is required.

For nearly half a century, the McGrath Institute for Church Life has partnered with Catholic dioceses, parishes, and schools to form and empower Catholic leaders for service in the Church and the world. As a collaborative partner with clerical and lay Catholic leaders at all levels, MICL provides theological education, research, resources and integral formation to address today’s most pressing pastoral challenges with urgency and impact. By connecting Catholic intellectual life to the life of the Church, MICL serves as a preeminent source of creative Catholic programming for evangelization and formation. Currently, MICL is home to 11 full-time faculty members, 31 full-time staff members, 3 part-time staff members and 4 full-time visiting faculty members.
