Custodial Temporary Opportunities (Summer)

The Custodial Services Department at Saint John’s University invites applications to fill numerous temporary summer positions. Typical shift is 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday. Full or part time options and/or flexible start time may be available. Postions beginning May 15, 2023 - August 25, 2023. 

 Positions are responsible for all aspects of cleanliness, refuse/recycling removal and sanitation of buildings on the SJU campus and will use cleaning solutions and operate custodial equipment to complete the duties.

Responsibilities

• General and detailed cleaning in academic and residential building interiors. Tasks may include:
  • Wiping down chairs, desks, doors, walls, and other room furnishings
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors and stairways
• Window washing
• Carpet cleaning
• Dusting
• Emptying and cleaning garbage and recycling containers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be reliable and report to work on time/as assigned.
• Must have a positive attitude and good work ethic.
• Must be able to tolerate chemicals used for cleaning.
• Ability to follow direction and work independently or with co-workers.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds. 
• Ability to perform duties under the direction/mentorship of fulltime staff.
